Norm Anderson

Director, Co-Writer

The recipient of a major screenwriting grant from the Alfred P. Sloan foundation, Norm focused on screenwriting, directing and documentary filmmaking while at the University of Southern California, where he received his MFA in film production in 2003.

Norm wrote and directed “Hook, Line and Singer” – a comedic exploration of what it takes to ‘make it’ in the music industry. He was mentored on the project by Academy Award winner Mark Harris. Norm also directed the pilot episode of the USC produced Sit-Com “God Help Us.”

Norm studied directing with Nina Foch, Donald Petrie, Peter Bonerz and Jeremy Kagan. He's also worked with Kagan, Keith Gordon and Rod Daniel in advanced directing seminars at USC and just finished helping Kagan edit the 2nd edition of “Directors Close Up,” a book of interviews with directors nominated for Best Film DGA Awards.

With the late filmmaker Tania Trepanier, Norm co-wrote a Sundance Lab finalist script entitled “Of Chameleons and Gods,” an interracial coming-of-age love story set against a backdrop of real life political oppression in Malawi, Africa during the 1970s and 80s. The script will be Norm’s feature film directorial debut.

Prior to USC, Norm attended Williams College, studying Music Composition and German. After Williams, Norm spent a year teaching English in Vienna, Austria on a Fulbright Grant.

Born and raised in the woods of Western Massachusetts without running water, electricity or television, Norm currently resides in Los Angeles while working as a screenwriter, director, editor and voice over artist. He has electricity, TV and plumbing now and has finally mastered concepts such as “channels” and “remote control.”
